Email Ms. Colville ([email protected]). She will be periodically checking her school email over the summer.
What happens if I turn in my forms late?
Because members of the NJHS are selected on their responsibility and leadership abilities, late forms will not be accepted. To avoid any unforeseen circumstances (illness, computer malfunction, etc.), please turn in forms early.
Can I count service hours that I earn money while completing?
If you are paid for your services, then the hours may not be counted toward your required community service hours. If the money earned is donated to a charitable cause and documented on the community Service Log Sheet, then the hours may be counted.
I completed some community service hours at the end of the last school year. Can I count those hours toward my required individual hours?
All community service hours completed between October 18, 2019 and October 2, 2020 may be used to fulfill your required community service hours.
When is the application deadline?

As an active member of the NJHS, do I earn points toward the Board of Education Award?

Once I get inducted into the NJHS in 7th grade, do I have to re-apply in 8th grade?

I participated but was not inducted into NJHS as a 7th grader, do I need to re-apply to join in 8th grade?
Yes, you will need to re-apply as an 8th grader, including completing your community service hours.
I currently have a cumulative GPA that is just under 3.5, can I still apply to the NJHS?
You may apply even if your cumulative GPA is just under the 3.5 requirement. However, you must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 by the end of the first semester in order to remain a member.
Will all students who apply to the NJHS automatically be selected?
Unfortunately, not all students who apply to join the NJHS will be selected. A faculty council will review all applications and base their decision on the five areas that the NJHS focuses on: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. Teacher input is sought as well.
